Shanahan, York thankful Juszczyk took 49ers' wage cut.

ORLANDO— For many reasons, Kyle Juszczyk is vital to the 49ers.

The All-Pro fullback reduced his compensation to help the organization stay under the NFL wage restriction in 2024 and plan for the future.

At the NFL Annual Meeting on Tuesday, coach Kyle Shanahan stressed the importance of Juszczyk taking a paycut to San Francisco's future.

“It’s huge,” Shanahan remarked. Kyle is a key player on this club since we arrived. It would have hurt to lose him. Kyle being with us was excellent for us. I’m glad he did reports that the fullback's five-year, $27 million contract in 2021 has lowered earnings by $3.4 million. Juszczyk's flexibility saved the organization $4 million

The 49ers are under the limit, but their space will rollover and help them pay quarterback Brock Purdy in 2025 when his inexpensive rookie contract expires.

Franchise owner and CEO Jed York thanks Juszczyk for his help and is pleased of the franchise's “team-first” culture. York knows it provides the team a league edge.
